Who Can Benefit from a Smile Makeover?

Many people in Los Angeles and elsewhere have a habit of grinding their teeth, either absent-mindedly during the day or unknowingly while they sleep. After enough years of this their teeth are worn down and pushed out of alignment, so that their smile looks small and ill-assorted.

As the bite wears down, this causes the lower third of the face to collapse. The chin gets closer to the tip of the nose, causing jowls and creases to form on the lower face. In some cases, there are other reasons for lack of harmony among the teeth, but whatever the causes, if you have worn or mismatched teeth, you are a good candidate for a non-surgical facelift. Restoring worn down teeth to their original size brings the lower portion of the face back into proportion with the other features.

People who suffer from temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ/TMD) may also want to consider a non-surgical facelift once their bite has been corrected. TMD can cause the jaw and teeth to become misaligned, leading to uneven wear as the teeth bump against each other and wear each other down.

What's Involved in a Non-Surgical Facelift?

A non-surgical facelift is a total smile makeover by your cosmetic dentist. It transforms your smile and your entire lower face, giving them more balance, so that your whole face is brightened.

Cosmetic dentists like Dr. Henry have perfected the non-surgical facelift. It can often takes several visits, but the results can be astonishing.

If you have TMJ disorder, the first step is to find your natural bite because TMJ. Then, your teeth can be reconstructed on this new basis.

Dr. Henry might use porcelain veneers or dental bonding to lengthen or modify the size of your teeth, porcelain crowns to create an entirely new tooth, and perhaps a laser to slightly reduce the size or modify the shape of some teeth. He'll pay close attention to your facial structure, creating a smile that will harmonize with it.

Steps of a Non-Surgical Facelift

Dr. Henry will create temporary crowns or veneers so that he can see how the proposed non-surgical facelift will work. These temporary ones can be worn while you wait for the lab to create the permanent ones. This is commonly known as a 'trial smile' or 'trial bite'.

Dr. Henry will fit your new crowns or veneers, and before permanently attaching them, will let you look at them, and bite down, and he'll fine-tune them if necessary. When they feel comfortable and look right, he'll attach them with durable dental bonding.
